O Complexo do Clube Náutico de Avis, onde está inserida a praia fluvial, oferece um conjunto de infraestruturas importantes para o desenvolvimento do turismo no concelho de Avis e no Alentejo. Dessas infraestruturas referimos, além da praia, piscinas municipais, solário, parque infantil, pista de treino de remo, parque de merendas, café/restaurante com esplanada, instalações sanitárias públicas, hangar para aluguer de canoas e gaivotas e um agente de turismo náutico com passeios de barco movidos a energia solar e stand up paddle.
A praia fluvial situa-se numa das margens da massa de água da Albufeira do Maranhão (código PT05TEJ1030). A Albufeira do Maranhão, localizada na sua quase totalidade no concelho de Avis, apresenta-se como um polo de elevadas potencialidades cénicas e ambientais. Constitui uma reserva de água, destinada à rega, permitindo ainda o aproveitamento hidroelétrico e encontra-se prevista, desde a sua construção, a possibilidade de servir como origem de água para abastecimento público.
É uma das albufeiras alentejanas com maior variedade geológica na bacia de drenagem, proporcionando, consequentemente, a sedimentação de materiais provenientes de diversas fontes, com diferenças significativas sob o ponto de vista de texturas, mineralogia e caraterísticas geoquímicas.
A zona de praia está integrada no terreno, numa zona abrigada de ventos e com declives suaves que permitem o acesso direto ao plano de água. Esta zona está disposta em plataformas de forma a reduzir o declive e poder ser revestida por areia. O local de banho está limitado ao caudal da albufeira. A praia fluvial e o uso balnear que se pretendem identificar estão previstos em sede do Plano Diretor Municipal.
A afluência de banhistas considera-se alta no verão, quando as condições climatéricas são favoráveis para a atividade balnear. Essa afluência ocorre principalmente aos fins-de-semana e nos meses de julho e agosto.
Nestes meses de verão a albufeira poderá apresentar um caudal baixo.
Brief description
The Clube Náutico de Avis Complex, where the river beach is located, offers a set of important infrastructures for the development of tourism in the municipality of Avis and in the Alentejo. Of these infrastructures we mention, in addition to the beach, municipal swimming pools, solarium, playground, rowing training track, picnic area, café / restaurant with terrace, public sanitary facilities, hangar for canoe and pedal boat rental and a tourism agent nautical with boat trips powered by solar energy and stand up paddle.
The river beach is located on one of the banks of the water body of Albufeira do Maranhão (code PT05TEJ1030). Albufeira do Maranhão, located almost entirely in the municipality of Avis, presents itself as a pole of high scenic and environmental potential. It constitutes a water reserve, destined for irrigation, still allowing the hydroelectric use and it is foreseen, since its construction, the possibility of serving as a source of water for public supply.
It is one of the Alentejo reservoirs with the greatest geological variety in the drainage basin, consequently providing the sedimentation of materials from different sources, with significant differences in terms of textures, mineralogy and geochemical characteristics.
The beach area is integrated in the land, in an area sheltered from winds and with gentle slopes that allow direct access to the water plane. This area is arranged on platforms in order to reduce the slope and be covered by sand. The bathing place is limited to the flow of the reservoir. The river beach and the bathing use to be identified are provided for in the PDM.
The influx of bathers is considered high in the summer, when the weather conditions are favorable for bathing activity. This turnout occurs mainly at weekends and in July and August.
In these summer months the reservoir may have a low flow.
